NEWPORT, R.I. — Newport Restaurant Week opens Friday, Nov. 6, and over its 10-day run through Nov. 15 more than 75 restaurants are taking part with set-price menus.

The pricing is built in tiers. Lunch comes in at $20 or $30, while dinner menus are offered at $30, $45 or $60, so diners can pick a quick midday bite or a bigger evening meal and know the cost before they sit down.

The promotion is run each fall by Discover Newport, the area tourism group, and it reaches past the city limits. Restaurants from nine coastal communities across Newport and Bristol counties fill the list, which the group posts online with each place and its menu.

Many of the participating kitchens also offer family-friendly menus, which makes the week a reasonable night out for households with children, not only couples or visitors.

For a couple, the gap between the lowest and highest dinner tiers works out to $60 for the same night out, which gives diners room to try a new spot at the entry price or treat the evening as a splurge at the top tier. A family of four sticking to the $20 lunch level would spend $80 before drinks, tax and tip.

Because the menus are fixed in advance, each restaurant decides which courses and dishes go into its tier, so the list varies from a casual lunch counter to a white tablecloth dinner. Diners can compare the posted menus before choosing where to go.

Newport Restaurant Week is an annual fall promotion, and this edition fills 10 days that end on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Diners with questions or suggestions can reach the tourism group through its Restaurant Week page.
